It's not meant as a literal request to take you out to the ballgame.
It's meant as an expression of enthusiasm. A musical way of saying, there's no other place I'd rather be. I love baseball.
Also, since your all singing it (or at least pretending to) it's a communal solidarity thing that I can't even begin to explain but is deeply rooted in human nature.
