I've heard of these but have never used them.

Are they softer than regular towels? More absorbent?

Micro "fiber" towels do not scratch surfaces. I have a $100,000 classic car and would not use anything else. But they are not to be used on yourself like bath towels. They are made for cars, boat, bikes, motorcycles, etc. They do not harm the paint.
