Corydora catfish do not like muddy water. They are generally very sensitive to water quality and will easily contract diseases or die in dirty water. Corys are not really known to be the hardiest of fish.
All fish require a filter. Not just to keep your water clean, which essential, but also to agitate the water surface which will oxygenate the water. Your fighter could breathe from the surface, but very few other fish can, and require a filter or airstone to oxygenate the water for them. Paradise fish and gouramis can, but they require a minimum of 10 gallons each.
How large is your tank? Most tanks designed for fighters usually aren't large enough to house any other type of fish. Five gallons is the minimum, in which case you could keep some guppies; but you would definitely need a filter for that.

Empty out your tank completely. Wash it with chlorine bleach, and let it dry. If you can let it dry in the sun, that's best, but it's not essential.
Get yourself some spagnum moss, and put about 1-2 inches in the bottom of the tank instead of gravel, then fill it with water. Put a bubbler in each rear corner, and run the tank for about a week, so that everything has settled down.
The spagnum moss will result in a slightly acidic water. Not all fish like that kind of water, but corydora love it. You can also get yourself a plecostamus, if it's a young one.
The water at the fish store will not be as acidic as yours, so you need to get the fish acclimated slowly. Just toss the bag in the fishbowl for an hour or two, so the temperature matches. Then grab something to move a little tank water into the bag at a time. A coffee scoop is two tablespoons, which is about the right size. Put one scoop of tank water into the bag, wait a half hour, put another scoop in, etc., until you have about 10-12 scoops of tank water in the bag. At that time, you can cut the bag open, and let the fish swim free.
You will find that corydora have really great personalities if they like the surroundings they are in. Like most catfish, they like muddy water.
Without any filtration, you can't put many in a tank. You can get a cheap triangular sponge filter, though, that will fit in the back corner of the tank. After you've had it in place for a couple of weeks, your tank will support more corydora.

some element guy or woman-friendly good right here, are the flowery goldfish, and what's commanly talked approximately as a pair spoke of catfish. They get alongside super jointly, this is guy or woman-friendly to maintain the water clean, and that they look a blast to video show throughout the time of the time of feeding. quite in case you have any mosquito larva. They bypass insane. in simple terms have an impressive adequate tank, i'd recommend approximately 35 gallon a minimum of, and decrease than gravel clean out, etc. Oscars are yet yet another particularly hardy fish, and that they get very tame as top. yet they like an impressive tank to strengthen appropriate good right into a techniques-blowing comprehensive sized friendly fish.

you could get away with some white clouds. You don't need to go through bleaching and all that...just get a tank with a plant or 2, a rocck (soaked in boiling water for a day) and 2 fish.
change 1/3 of the water a week and 1 cup of water a day. These fish are really hardy and even live as cold as freezing water. one of my neighbours just had a small little pond with around 20 or so in there. She didn't change the water, they ate algae but she also provided them with some food and they had babies wiothout her having to do much work

If you aren't willing to clean and do partial water changes at least once a week (depending on container size), which needs to be done even with a filter, including with bettas, then you don't need to be keeping fish. Sorry, but that's the way it is.

You can keep a goldfish or other fish in a small tank, but you would have to clean it out once a week.
