What do you think of the anime (Japanese animations only, not your local ones) in your country? What is your opinion on the dubs, subs, channels that air them, the airing times, and also all products and merchandises available there?
I'm just curious. :)

I live in Malaysia, and here, the industry is really disastrous and unpredictable.
-[Alex]- said before that most animes are translated in our mother language, Malay. It's true. However, the dubs were so horrible I normally avoid them most of the time. Only a few has decent dubbing, but not much. Before the end of 2006, there are many good ones.
As for the subbed ones, they were only aired on midnights; I usually sleep before the animes even began (lol). Currently the subbed anime available is only Bleach. I have no idea if there are others as for now.
The channels are not helping either. Local ones tend to cancel animes without notice. I hate ntv7 for that, although it serves latest ones. Cables are good, but then again...
Since most animes are quite outdated, we have the latest bootleg VCDs and DVDs available, scattering all over Malaysia (lol). Merchandises are very rare as well. We can only find them at big cities, nowhere else.
How about yours? :)

Anime in the philippines are fun to watch.
Reasons:
1.) dubbing is okay and on time
2.) they sometimes insert some funny one liners even though it's not there in the original but it's so funny. example is the anime slamdunk there's a lot of insert dialogues there.
3.) some anime's are up to date
4.) Merchandise is up to date (even the collector's items)

If you are talking about my home country (Indonesia) it is REALLY terrible. All of the animes that is aired there is dubbed which of course you know how bad dubbed animes are like. There is no subbed, so it's pretty lame. But, the good thing is, is the merchandise. The merchandise about anime in Indonesia is VERY popular and cheap too.
If you are talking about the country that I live in right now (Oman - Middle East), then there is NON what so ever. If I ask people here about anime, they have absolutely NO CLUE about it, so I know and watch anime by going to the internet instead *sob*

OMG! You are soooo right! XD
I live in Malaysia too... I think the anime industry is kinda left behind compared to the manga industry.
The dubbing was sucks, how could they use the service of 30 year old man to do the vocal for 12 year old anime character? LOL...
The subtitles for the DVDs were bad too, I mean at least they should hire proper translators to do the translating jobs before they distribute them to the market... *sigh*
However, I'm quite satisfied with the manga here, I'm a fan of manga since I was a kid, many years ago, and they sold all good manga with reasonable price...
Now, besides Kreko and Arena Komik, they are translating many new manga in volumes, though some of the publishers like Comics House reproduce all those old manga again...
But I'm still happy to see many anime/manga fans in Malaysia, like you and Alex! =)

If you don't have cable, the industry is nearly nonexistant on Brazil. On open air it's only your everyday Naruto/DBZ/insert SJ fad here, and often mutilated to the extreme. Merchandise is very scarce, and most are bootlegs (as well as the DVDs)
But on the bright side, there are lots of interesting stuff on cable, most of the dubs are very good (some, like Trigun, are awesome) and on the manga side, it's not that bad. To be honest, the manga industry is doing sligthly better than the anime one, since we have more variety (from mainstream to underground).

haha, my country?!
lol, no one knows about anime and manga here!!!!
believe me, just a few people knows about that here, and if they know about it they don't watch much, they aren't totally obsessed with anime which kinda annoys me, I feel I'm a lonely and have a weird hobby, but I guess I'm that according to my country only! that's the reason why I'm in comics and animation : (
the dub sucks here! they change so many things including the characters' names and the anime's title, they do change some main and important events too, it really sucks! and our channels don't have the subs which made it even worse and what really annoys me is we have only one channel for anime series and cartoons (there will be another channel soon, but I'm not happy, because nothing is gonna change) and they edit some scenes from the anime just to make it suitable for kids, I mean wtf!!!
there isn't blood, it's like you're watching scooby doo, lol...
and yeah, they show american cartoons e.g. powerpuff girls, dexter's labratory, totally spies, spiderman, superman and crap!
and the anime they show aren't good, they're old enough, they show hamtaro too, lol......
but recently they started to show naruto, I guess they're in episode 10 right now......
the people here call "anime" cartoon, they simply don't care if it's Japanese or American, geez!!!!
the products and merchandize we have are the dubbed anime's, this year every kid is carrying naruto's products-----> school bags, t-shirts, pencils and even shoes, lol.... we don't have the good anime dubbed like bleach, death note and others
and if you want a manga you have to buy and order one from the internet because we simply don't have it : ( and if it's available, you'll find them in a weird place and it's damn expensive, it's like you're buying a new jeans, damn it!
but thank god, there ARE anime and manga fans here like me, they do exist here, most of them are males, it's kinda hard to find a female manga and anime fan like me here in my country......
