You should use a lighter absorbency, it hurt because it did not soak up a lot of menstrual flow.
I always use regular or lite absorbency.
Playtex Sport or Tampax Pearl are great brands.
And I've been using tampons since age 11 (33 now).

I hardly ever use tampons because I think they're SO uncomfortable. I've never liked them. Maybe you don't have a heavy enough flow to be using the super tampons. Perhaps you can try the smaller ones and see if that's better.
Does it hurt because it's kind of sticking to your skin inside? Try the smaller ones, if it still hurts, I'd just stick to pads.

I have this problem if I use supers to unless it's the middle of my period. It's because it and everything around it got to dry, making it not want to slide out easily. Relax. It actually has made me cry once. Just stick to regulars unless a very heavy flow decides to pop up and surprise you.
I personaly love pearl because I tend to lose my grip on the applicator with others, that and I just like the way you can't fell it at all...which is kind of the point..... ;-D
happy halloween!

Those are really large, so yes, that would make sense that it hurt. I am guessing you were at the end of your period and the tampon came out drier? Ouch. Don't worry, there is nothing seriously wrong. Just the wrong fit, so to speak. Go smaller.

They hurt when you remove them and they're dry. You should only be using supers if you're having a really heavy flow.

You need to stretch things out in there. That's why it hurts.
