We are both single and live together already.
We have lived together for almost three years. I heard that a marriage liscence can bring some discounts or money off somewhere in the process. The marriage penalty tax probably wouldn't apply to us because one of us now and in the future probably will make a lot more money than the other. I am just curious if there are more discounts when you actually buy a house after getting married? Mind you i am not saying we are getting married just for the benefits of being married, but it would be nice to get some added bonuses for legally combining everything.

Iv'e never heard of discounts for buying a home because you are married.

If you are applying for a first time homebuyer program they do in fact check to see if you have owned a home in the past 3 years.

Arizona has a great first time homebuyer program.

Here is the details

As far as home purchases are concerned, there are no perks for being married. The same rates will apply in either scenario. Marriage discounts come in income tax filing and in car insurance.

the only advantage of being married and tring to buy a home is the dual income and the joy you share doing so....the more people that take responsibility of the loan the better, thats way people say being married helps.
