Why are poeple so obsessed with MCR?

I find it quite annoying because they are stealing credit from other great bands. I never hear ppl talking about linkin park, metallica, 30 seconds to mars, bullet for my valentine etc and they have just as good music. all i ever hear now is 'mcr this' and 'mcr that'.

i'm not saying I hate them or anything but it's really gettin on my nerves.

first of all, i want to say to pure about "hey there delilah" and how it's okay to listen because it's on the radio:

okay, what do you mean by "okay to listen"? you were saying that like "it's okay to do drugs because everyone else is doing it". no no no! i lke this song very much and a radio is my ONLY source of music; i'm not like a hardcore music person, if i hear about anything new, it's through the radio. how the hell does that make me blind? i like the song okay? i heard it on the radio and i think it's a good song. that's all there is to it, ok? i mean some people may be blind but not all of them.

i like some mcr songs, others are kind of blah. and i agree that gerard way is good looking but it's about the music not the looks. some people are not obsessed with mcr, they just like it a lot, which is different. but then again, some people don't like it but since they like gerard way, they say hey like the band. bluck.

i don't know why they're obsessed with mcr. maybe it's not as bad as you think. maybe it's just concentrated in your area. because where i come from, most people like that rap crap, and anyway the ones who do like mcr aren't really obsessed with them.

Because now listen to me on this WE LIKE THEIR MUSIC I think there are A LOT of other great bands out their to but I've like MCR since their first album. It's not taking away credic from other bands. Maybe you just hang around people that are REALLY obsessed with MCR because they aren't the biggest thing at my school. THe point is that they are a good band, and deserve all the credit as the other bands out there.

I agree with most of this stuff on here except that MCR is "emo" and everything. XP Gerard himself has said that "emo is ****." Anyway I think that like everyone has said ppl are obsessed with MCR because a lot is going on with them lately. From a supposed fight with longtime friends The Used to Gerard getting married and the band going on huge tours with awesome bands.

I am a person who talks about all the bands i love as well. for instance just a few minutes ago i was talking about the Used having drama and their lead singer getting surgery.

Also agreeing with the fangirl thing and every good band has those ppl who will just show up to the concerts and listen to the songs just to look good to the crowd. Fortunately that is not me. My advice to you would be to continue to listen to the bands that you like and see what's going on with them, and if you like MCR a bit then listen to them too, just stay away from the nuts who call themselves fans.

A lot of people talk about them because they're there to talk about.MCR is an awesome band, and I'm glad people realize that because I'm just as obsessed as the next person. So much new crap is going on every day for them, and there are mini-earthquakes every time that happens. Just think, if every time you logged on to answers you saw something about bfmv's new tour, or Matthew Tuck getting engaged(which didn't happen), people would get sick of bfmv even though they re a great band. If the questions bother you, just ask about something else instead of bringing up another question.

People get so obsessed with bands like that because people will follow and love anything they hear on the radio. Mainstream sells out so easy. Lots of bands went from popular indie label to sloppy sell-out bullcrap.
On MTV they feature a new band every week. The moment they started with Paramore everyone started to like them. Everyone is just now falling in love with Rilo Kiley. Some of the best stuff I've heard over the years has never been on the radio. Maybe XM, but hardly.
One of the mainstream bands that went to over-the-top sell-out mania is Panic! At the Disco, Fall Out Boy, Plain White Tees. Does anyone realize that "Hey There Delilah" has been out for roughly over 2 years? But now that they hear it all over the radio it's okay to listen, and it's okay to love it. People are so blind.

i think of they're a great band and write very good, stylized, and dazzling songs. They deserve each and every of the acclaim they get. I additionally adore 30 Seconds to Mars (nonetheless not any of the different bands you suggested), and intensely some different present day bands greater beneficial than MCR (The Chakras, The customers, Regina Spektor, etc...), yet... MCR have that little something to be bonafide ******* rock stars, so greater potential to them!

I'm sure all the teenyboppers think Gerard (or Gerald, whatever the hell his name is) Way is SOOOOOOO HAWT! Someone pass me a barf bag! Their music is hardly listenable and most of the videos are, at best, bland as a mayonnaise sandwich.

well, first of all mcr rocks

second, mcr is just a wider-known band, its not screamo, its not atlernative, its just rock that anyone likes. like you said, linkin park and 30 seconds to mars are great bands, but mcr just has more fans because more people know about them, hard to explain. if you want more people to like your bands, tell them about them, get them to talk about them.
