I sang George Gershwin's "Summertime" and hummed "Lara's Theme" from Dr. Zhivago
and sang (not for sleep) -- well, *most* of "The Brown-Eyed Girl" to my very own brown-eyed blonde baby girl

I cannot carry a tune. But I do remember endless hours of rocking and my babes were all stubborn when it came to closing the eyes so I used to blow gently on their eye lids until they drifted off.
