I'm not talking about the my chemical romances of the world here, they're obviously overrated. I mean bands that have worldwide critical acclaim but you feel like they dont deserve as much acclaim as they get. My vote goes to the Rolling Stones

Adam, Rolling Stones are NOWHERE NEAR the best band ever. Just because older people like to reminisce and think the music from their generation is better than others, which is true in some cases, but is not true in this case. People seem to conviently forget all the terrible music that came out of the 60's, and focus on the few good bands that came out of that decade

I lost count, this should be #4 for U2. They don't deserve the crazy acclaim they get.

Queen. They have a couple good songs, but I don't understand how they could influence so many people. I mean they're all great at what they do, but they just aren't as good as people say they are (as a group). Say any Queen song and I'm sure a major Queen fan will say its good, even if there's the possibility that its their worst song and they've never heard of it.

Oh, and Nirvana shouldn't have gotten all that critical acclaim. "Smells Like Teen Spirit" is a good song at best, but how did it have such an impact on rock music? Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, and Alice in Chains are better, as well as many other alternative rock bands of the 90's.

U2 has become overrated too. They're still mainstream, popular with the teenage audience, etc., and they've been around for more than twenty years. They were mostly good until Achtung Baby, then they fell off the track. All That You Can't Leave Behind was good though, but how it managed to sell so well (12 million albums sold) is beyond me. Same with How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb, although it's not as good. But I don't understand why people hate U2 so much. Bono I don't like so much, but The Edge has a unique style, Adam Clayton has a great driving style, and Larry Mullen, Jr. isn't a bad drummer.

Of those three, I'd say Queen is the most overrated. They've made so many damn lists, sold more than 300 million albums worldwide, and influenced so many people, and yet during their day, most of their albums received mixed reviews, except ones like A Night At The Opera.

No.... I nonetheless stick to the intercourse pistols. And the Dave Matthews Band. LOL I gotta chortle while people say that on the subject of the ineffective, I admit they're puffed up however the ingredient maximum people are not getting is that the reason they're over rated is by technique of the fact they're the only stunning cover band. little or no of the stuff they did substitute into theirs. and that they in no way claimed to be great. Now Jerry substitute right into a phenom pondering all distinctive initiatives and issues he did, however the ineffective substitute into like a convenience band for him. the different issues are the place he could stretch his musical legs. rckets- i substitute into listening to the ineffective for 6 years till now smoking pot for the 1st time. so as that blows your drug concept out of the water.

Sorry, melissa_h. I love Lynyrd Skynyrd and I can't see why they would be overrated. They made great music.

A prime example of an overrated band is Fall-Out Boy. I do not think they should make that kind of money for music as bland as theirs.
