~Two Philly disc jockeys: Jerry Blavatt aka"The Geator with the Heater" and Harvey Miller aka "Heavy, Humble Harvey Miller".

In NYC: Cousin Brucie and Alan Freed on AM and, on FM, Dave "The Nighthawk" (can't remember his last name).

Nationally: Wolfman Jack and Dr. Demento.

Now days, I'd be happy to be able to get a decent station on my radio. It's all satellites and cable.

I had one of those antique radios with the big wood console and it got the station that said at the tone the time will be in greenwich. And the only station that came in clear in the evening was wls and wolfman jack was the best.

Wasn't Wolfman Jack the ONLY DJ worth listening to when we were young?

Although Casey Caseham (spelling) is pretty good too.

Guess this won't mean much in the States but any South Arican on the site might remember, LM Radio, with Larry O' Donahue. Broadcast off the coast of what was then Mozambique. We were not allowed Pop Radio shows! Larry and his late wife were good friends of mine he passed away this year. those were great old day in SA, everything was censored! So these guys got out and managed to broadcast from there. Another one for the SA's, was "702" with John Burkes.

Casey Kasem's America Top 40 was my favorite, but I did like Wolfman Jack too.

George Kline (WHBQ) and Dewy Phillips were in Memphis. All the teenagers called the radio station on Friday and Saturday night to get the same phone connection. The connection was weak and distant but we yelled at each other until we established telephone numbers and school affiliation. Lots of fun.

Well, Clap for the Wolfman! Lucky you. Ever heard of the Greaseman, he was a DJ in NE FL when I was growing up, then he moved to DC. Totally irreverant jerk, but as a teenager we got a kick out of him.
