There is no one definition for what a 'real' man or 'real' woman is. In fact, to me, there is no such thing.
Biology does not answer this question. There are intersexed people that have biological characteristics of men and women. Chromosomes do not answer this definitively, as there are XXY people.
Simply 'looking' does not answer this, as there are transsexual people that have had surgery that even a doctor cannot tell from someone born with those features.
When you take into account the context of your question, though, it gets even more fuzzy. The 'be a real man' is usually an insult to some man is who not following gender normative behavior. A lot of what makes a 'man' or 'woman' (or masculine or feminine person, though they are not the same) is socially constructed.
Yes, gender norms may have grown out of typical differences between those born as 'men' or 'women' (along the generally accepted definition in 'modern' Western cultures of biological sex characteristics such as genitals determining what's a 'man' or 'woman'). Men typically have more upper body strength, or women typically have softer skin. Not always maybe, but perhaps typically. So society may ascribe to 'men' being strong and 'women' being soft. This does not make a real man or woman.
To answer your subquestion, a 'metrosexual' man can be as much a 'real' man as anyone else given the label 'man'. A pro-feminist woman can likewise be a 'real' woman.

howdy, there may be purely one (era). I say this for all time. humorous how others finally come to the conclusions you reached years in the past, LOL. So, definite i don't see those variations by way of fact those variations (unquestionably) are extremely minuscule. i'm a Black woman and that i'm getting an extremely atypical feeling while questioning of having intercourse or being in a dating with a white guy, yet i think ok while i'm *imagining* a dating with adult males from distinctive minorities. So, i'm open to it (if there's a white guy available that even turns me on), yet I doubt that it will take place.

A real man and woman never go by what a society says that they are real or not; they know they are real. He/she are the type of people who accept/ change when necessary their faults.
They are the ones who rise to the challenge with dignity and grace.

Just the term metrosexual man is a turnoff to me! If you have to catagorize yourself, does that mean you are not sure if you are a real man? To me, that answer would be a YES! In my old fashioned mind, a real man doesn't have to THINK about putting himself in ANY group! He just IS, and is comfortable with that! He knows how to fix a tire, a leaky faucet, a little girl's broken doll and a child's scratched knee. He knows that helping do the dishes is one of the sexiest things a man can do. A real woman knows how to appreciate all these things in a real man!!

I agree with bovinotarian; everyone has different ideas of what makes a real man and a real woman, but we can all agree that they have a penis and a vagina, respectively.

Metrosexual is a relatively new term and to me has nothing to do with being a real anything.
In my mind if you pinch them and they go Yeow! They are real.

Both are empty slogans. They mean nothing, like saying 'hot fire' - what other kind of fire is there besides the 'hot' variety?
Red herring. Meaningless.

A real man has a penis and testicles
A real woman has a vagina and ovaries.
Anything else is purely subjective. What is a real man to one woman may not be one to another, and vice versa.

there's no such thing as "real" gender. it's a social construction.

The holy bible holds the answer to your query. Scoop it is the biological gender which led to the "scoial constructs", not the other way around.
