Do you think it will end soon, or do you think this will continue into the next decade? I am personally afraid for all the lives that will be lost before this war is done! And will history look back on this war 40 years from now has a successful war, or one that failed to instill the democracy in Iraq?

Bush's war will still be going on in 40 years.

US troops will never be pulled out of Iraq, so the Iraqi people will have no choice but to continue fighting.

The war is over, we are occupying a country now. Wars end occupation last forever. When we say "War on drugs", War on terrorists," "war on crime," these are things that never end.

I think history will look at this as a war that was started for questionable reasons. I wonder why Sadaam was able to keep this country together and it seems now they will be killing each other forever now. Maybe its Iran and Syria's involvement that is causing the mayhem.

nicely WW1 change into meant to be the conflict to end all wars and it in simple terms resulted contained in the circumstances that led to Hitler and finally WW2. Defeating Hitler performed no lasting peace because it required allying with the Soviets who were 10x worse than the nazis and led to a lengthy time period of the chilly conflict and the auxiliary wars linked with battling the spread of communism which comprise Vietnam and Korea. This also incorporates our funding of Bin encumbered even as he bankrupted the Soviets even as they foolishly went into Afghanistan. And now the following we are. there's a continuity of a majority of those conflicts so i ought to assert no conflict does no longer look to end wars commonly they in simple terms create circumstances for the subsequent one.

How can this war end...
anybody that has a problem with us (including our citizens)...is a terrorist..
how can after years of messing with other peoples lives, countries, can you expect them to like us.
And if you , or they say anything....you are a terrorist
As long as this immature attitude pervades...war

It's a new century....but we allow childish responses to our problems (leadership is lacking)_....diplomacy with a big stick...come on...lets grow up...it's a global environment now

You should all be happy our troops are over there fighting instead of having to wait for the scumbag terrorists to attack us here. Lives have been lost and not to sound heartless but people in the military know when they sign up they will be put in harm's way. It's part of the job so be glad you dont have to do it. The war will end when TERRORISTS are wiped out which may be never but I would rather we take the fight to them. Peace out suckers!

WWI and WWII were SHORT compared to the "Police Actions" we now call the Korean War, the Vietnam War etc.
This war on terror will end QUICKLY after we declare WAR and fight it as such.
As long as we keep fooling around getting soldiers killed for no progress and PROSECUTE soldiers for doing their jobs, as long as we are divided in our objectives, as long as we allow the media to make specious arguments saying the enemy are just misunderstood and they don't really mean to murder women and children, it is just a tenet of their religious faith, we will keep dyeing for nothing.
We MUST fight to win.
We must fight to destroy terrorists.

Wars end when someone wins. It will end when we win and winning is worth it. History will view this endeavor as a success as it will prompt a significant change in the middle east.

Listen to what a man on the ground in Iraq has to say...

From: Ssgt Greg S....... on active duty in Iraq I have never seen the media report on all the countries that are her in Iraq right now as part of our coalition in the war on the terrorists. (Note: I am going to say "terrorists" rather than "insurgents" because the evidence shows that now that the Sunnis have come over to side with the U.S./Coalition; it is Al-Qaeda-in-Iraq and the Al Qaeda backed cells of thugs, gangsters and organized criminals that made up the terroists we are fighting.) Who are the countries here? Albania, Armenia, Australia, Azerbaijan, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Britain, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, El Salvador, Estonia, Georgia,Kazakshstan, Macedonia, Moldova, Mongolia, Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Slovenia, and Uganda. Speaking of the Sunni change-of-heart: In a major reconciliatory gesture, a leader from Iraq's largest Shiite party has paid a rare visit to the Sunnu Anbar Province, delivering a message of unity to tribal sheiks who now back the U.S. and who have staged a revolt against Al Qaeda militants .Ammar al-Hakim struck a note if national unity in Anbar, where a tribal revolt against Al Qaeda has significantly reduced violence in the vast province and inspired similar anti-Al-Qaeda uprisings elsewhere in central Iraq and Baghdad SSGT Greg S....... *** Things I am seeing here that you won't get on the news back home: Working with our route clearance teams to sweep the roads for IED's. A few days ago a route clearance team was working hand-in-hand with the Iraqi Army to clear a road. As the road was being cleared, hundreds...yes hundreds of Iraqi citizens came out of their homes to join the Iraqi Army on the road to protect it after it was being cleared. 3 A,M. on a road in the middle of nowhere, and I watch an Iraqi Tribal Security team manning a checkpoint and aggressively patrolling the road, exposed, easy targets. That's guts. Now that the Sunni have come over to our side, it's no longer accurate to characterize this as an insurgency. This is Al Qaeda and terrorists that we are fighting, One sure way to tell is the Sunni that Al Qaeda are killing now that the Sunni work with us. Two weeks ago Al Qaeda suicide bombed a Sunni meeting, killing a three month old baby. They shot a Sunni in the chest, tied his still alive four month old baby to his leg, and threw them both in the river. This is the kind of barbaric terrorism we are fighting, and this is the kind of courage that the Iraqi people are displaying in this fight. And this is just the good stuff I am allowed to tell you about. When it comes to a fight against terrorism, give me one Iraqi over 100 left wing Oak Park liberals any day. If anyone asks, we are still winning this war and we could wrap things up a lot sooner if the Democrats would stop trying to figure out a way to surrender and just let us win. Please feel free to share.

it might end if Bush leaves office and/or when people in Washington are no longer under the influence of the neocons and/or are no longer afraid of Bush/Cheney. They treat them with deference, pull punches, treat them with respect when they don't deserve any. I don't get it! If they are respecting the office, why don't they impeach them. It is Bush/Cheney who tarnish the office.
