I thought it was a sailor in San Diego watching sea-gulls fall out of the air when they flew in front of a ship's radar antenna. He found out they were cooked and invented the Amana Radar Range when he went back home to Iowa. Only an idiot would walk around with a candy bar in his pocket and not expect it to melt.
