I won $200.00 from them 2 years ago....

I have published many a poem on this site for many a year, and never ever bought a single book. :)

ok Ronnie, i went thru and looked at all the complaints about that site, wow, amazing. Thats a shame. I think i will remove my poem. Thanx for the info.
I just do it for the fun any how and have won lots of money and certificates many years over...THANX again. I dont like scam companys who rip people off!!! Ive never spent a cent of my own money , but i wont promote a company who takes others hard earned cash. THANX!

I think you'll be a semi-finalist. Of course, everyone who posts to poetry.com is a semi-finalist. It's a scam.

Yes, it's a scam. They make millions of dollars on cheap books, and they give out prizes at random. Congratulations on your $200. How many books did you buy?

This website looks like a for-profit business to me. One of the drag downs is under the heading: "products".

No organization really representing poets would use the word product to describe anything they do or offer.

It also doesn't provide a membership list. Every writing organization I know - and I am a freelance writer and former director of several organizations, as well as president of one - would not have an area on their website listing some of their members, their websites, links to their books, etc.

You can post a poem, but they will try to get money from you somehow, either in buying an anthology in which it appears (for a highly inflated price) or laminated copies or other trinkets.

I hate to burst your bubble, but this doesn't seem on the up and up to me.
