I mean, I live in CT, where it's split right down the middle, so I don't think if I lived in a place like Idaho, I would've been in a Red Sox fan.

Absolutely! I too live in CT, grew up in Middletown-which was pretty split, but seemed to be more NYY fans since it's so much closer than Boston. I live in Manchester now, and it's predominantly Sox fans-but it's about a 1/2 hour to hit Chicopee. The majority of people in-state are Patriots fans. The main reason I am not, is because my dad's family is from PA so I grew up in a Steelers home. I have met very few Steelers fans in my day, and PA isn't really all THAT far. Location, location, location!! It isn't the ONLY determining factor, but it is a big part of it if you ask me,

Of course location is huge. If you live in St. Louis, you simply aren't going to root for any other team besides the Cardinals. If you live in Minnesota, you're kind of stuck with the Twins, no? Of course some cities are more difficult. Cities like L.A. and Chicago make it difficult to have a solid population that backs only one team. I think that makes things really interesting. The friction on the coasts is entertaining because of how serious they take everything, but also because the teams are so remarkably close to one another.

Also, if I didn't have the Cardinals, I'd probably be an Indians or Angels fan because they run their organization the right way. That's what I look for. I can't stand the Yankees, Cubs (not just because of the rivalry), Pirates, etc. because they aren't run the right way at all, and the fans suffer because of it.

Regional affiliation has a lot to do with it. Until 1957, St. Louis was the southernmost AND westernmost city in the Majors and had the largest minor league system. As a result, they had fans from Atlanta to Houston to Memphis from coast to coast. To this day, they are still one of the largest fan bases because of family tradition and the strength of KMOX radio. Now that the station no longer carries the games and XM radio and MLB Extra Innings has the televised games, who knows what impact it will have on this century. So far, the gate says that the metropolitan population is 2.5 million people and this season Busch III drew 3.55 million!

I guess there are still a lot of Cardinal fans out there, after all.

Well...I used to live in the New England states, and I'm definitley a Red Sox fan, but now, I live in Kentucky. That's not really near either team playing in the world series. My dad has always been a die-hard Red Sox fan and I've watched him root for them for practically all my life, so I'm sure that has something to do with it!

lold', you propose the NQ Toyota Cowboys?! it incredibly is a brilliant interest; better than American soccer, i think of. properly, i will placed my St. Louis Cardinals up first for attention: they have assorted background and a brilliant fanbase as a results of fact, whilst radio governed, KMOX coated assorted territory and that became/is the "voice" of the Cardinals. i do no longer think of the Rays will final; Florida followers are flighty, and Tampa isn't drawing properly. The Nationals could be a good decision; they are doing incredibly good suggestions-blowing now. I additionally like the suggestion of the Twins, different than they are interior the yank League, which permits a chosen hitter and their pitchers do no longer bat; to me, it incredibly is like letting your Cowboy gamers placed on helmets and pads - it incredibly isn't any longer custom and only undeniable incorrect. And, there is often the selection of the Chicago Cubs. next to the Yankees, they are probable extra the international over be responsive to than the different crew in significant League Baseball - in general for dropping. Any crew is enjoyable to persist with.

some people are going to root for their "home" team, but i live very far away from a team-the closest would be the cardinals and i can't stand them! i'm a true diamondbacks fan, but there are always going to be bandwagon fans-there's nothing wrong with it but they need to be more original
