an interesting content for your compare and contrast essay might be:

compare and contrast 'idea' and 'ideal' ☺

One way I find to help with the process of this type essay is to make a two-column chart. One column is 'similarities' and the other is 'differences'. I can then address those in the essay easier since they've been thought out already.

The other thing I try to do is write the middle (body) of the essay first. Then I can go back and come up with an introduction that makes sense considering the content I've already written, instead of trying to make the content fit the introduction.

When you compare and contrast, you look at what is similar and what is different. Once you have discussed that, you discuss how the similarities and differences differ between the things you are comparing. Without knowing your topic, that's the best explanation I can give you.
