AHAHA. Part of me thinks you're someone who is trying as hard as possible to sound like a stuck-up preppy.

But for those who agree with your statement, it should be said that there are millions of people on earth who would be incredibly grateful to receive someone else's clothing. So many homeless people go cold during the winter, and those who are less fortunate than others often have dirty, stained, torn clothing that becomes no longer suitable to wear.

Shopping at certain thrift stores also helps with charities, such as the salvation army. In turn the salvation army is able to provide shelter and food to many needy people.

Fashion wise, certain thrift stores offer really awesome clothing. Who cares if someone wore it before? If it's clean, if it's your style, and it makes you happy to wear it, then why not wear it?

If everyone thought like you, we'd all be clones of each other. I believe your final statement basically sums up the lack of character you have.

I don't think it's gross. Just wash them before wearing them.

For people who want to find something interesting to wear, they are definitely a good option. Besides, plenty of people don't have the money for expensive stuff at malls or department stores.

I'm not fond of them either, to tell you the truth. The thought of wearing someone else's cast-offs skeeves me out.

I do know someone who shops the thrift stores all of the time. She has a great wardrobe. It's just not for me.

i share your viewpoint but used clothes can be recycled to form other useful things like pillows and things for your house. some people have ingenious ways into converting something that's ruined to something that looks absolutely stunning. check this out - http://ratemyspace.hgtv.com/SNC/ViewItem.aspx?pguid=6db6be3f-1720-4ba3-a081-999042c09b6b&itemguid=1be4658e-d377-47c3-86b4-af24eb600e3f

this link shows you how one home owner makes use of thrift or flea markets to their full potential. honestly, i was impressed at her ability of constructing something totally cool with second hand rubbish.

I love thrift stores! You can find some awesome vintage clothing there.
Even some expensive stuff, that's sold for cheap!
That's why you wash the clothes dear.

you don't know what you're missing by being snobbish. Now there are certain things i won't buy no matter what, but there are also a few items that are still new with tags. I know you have items in your closet with tags still on them.
