So I'm about 33 weeks along and we havent agreen on a single name. I hate his names, he hates mine. He likes the name Lauren. I really do also but thats my cousins name. My cousin lives on the other side of the US and we havent seen each other in probably 3 1/2 years. Is it ok to use the same name or is that tacky? I'm not completely set on it. I was actually thinking of the name Dominique but I havent suggested it. We want something really girly. If you don't think it's ok to use the same name as a family member what names would you suggest?

Given the circumstances and distance involved, I think it's perfectly fine to use Lauren. ;) If it bothers you, however, you might consider something similar -- Laura, Lorelei, Lorna, etc.

I do think it is lovely to use the name Lauren, however if you don't feel completely 100% comfortable using it, because of your cousin, I'd try and find something else you both agree on.

I love the name Dominique, it's very unusual, and still feminine. It's gorgeous.

I think it's ok to use Lauren, but I can definatly see how it would make you nervious. My thought on the iffey naming situation is name the baby what makes you happy. If you really love this name, don't worry about your cousin. If you name her something else to avoid a slightly akward situation, chances are you'll wish you had just gone for it.
Other names I like are Amelia and Chloe.

I think it will work out fine to have a child named Lauren with that much distance in between. When I think about girly names I think of Grace, Carissa, Sophia, Marie, Whitney, Emily, Christina, and Chelsea.
Good Luck! You'll eventually work out something, my husband a nd i fought a lot too.

It's perfectly fine to name your child after a family member. What some people don't like, is naming the child after a family member and then never calling the child by it's name, instead calling it Junior it's whole life. But some of my favorite names for girls are: Savannah, Victoria, Ella, and Annabelle.

My cousin's name is Lauren and her middle name is Beth. I really like that name and she will appreciate it more as she gets older (she is only 4). It is not tacky to use her name. If anything, she will feel good because you liked that name so much. Here are some other suggestions:
Sarah-means princess
Amanda
Kelli
Vanessa
Dominique is cool too
Jenna
Catherine
McKenzie
Divya
Caroline
Emily
Katherine
Bonnie
Brooke
Julianna
Ariana

Angela
