don't use fabric softener on things that need ironing. and use magic sizing. you can find it wherever you find spray starch and it's better than starch.

If the article of clothing is cotton or something else that won't scorch or melt easily, then turn the iron on a high setting and use water for a mist. This gets wrinkle out much easier than no mist or a lower setting.

I'm no expert though, I dislike ironing, and don't do it unless I have to.

don't try to iron something that has been in the dryer.
if it will be ironed then hang it to dry.
use the hottest setting possible-check on a hidden seam
use a heavy steam iron- not some light weight one.
and get a good padded ironing board.
Iron things slightly damp.
smooth the fabric with your hands before ironing

or
do as I do now
buy a steamer and steam your clothes

I seriously do not mind ironing. But I don't do it usually. Ironing the smell of a hot iron and the smell of starch brings me back to when I was a kid coming home from school those smells remind me of coming home to mom.

Ironed clothes (with the exception of ironed jeans: gag!) look classy and like someone took the extra effort to look polished.

Have a good weekend.

LOL I try as hard as I can to not have to iron, what I try to do is take them out of the dryer while they're still hot and lay them flat until they cool, THEN hang them or whatever. I don't tend to have things too wrinkly that way...I mean, it's not PERFECT either, but it's not too bad.
Good luck

the iron has to be on the right temp first look at the lable it should tell you, if you get your clothes out of the dryer once it stops and hang most of it up you don't get so many wrinkles

You could always throw your clothes in the dryer that knocks the wrinkles out, but it will run more electricity. Or you could use some type of spray bottle that they use for wrinkle clothes, but I forgot the name of it.

I go out of my way not to get any clothing that requires ironing...but occasionally I iron something...doesn't bother me. Now what I hate is washing dishes!!!

Yes! I refuse to own anything that needs ironing. As for tips, maybe think permanent press.
