SO! My husband detected the reason my radio wouldn't work is because my fuse was broke. So we go get another one. He puts it in within 2 seconds it breaks again.. so he tries another one..same problem.

I'm guessing there's some sort of problem wiht the wiring.. is it at all possible to fix it yourself? My husband is VERY car savvy. If it isn't, how much would it be to replace whatever it is? Granted we have to drive to a different state in one week.

By the way it's in a CAR.

AND we're using the same rate fuse we took out.

All those are great answers. Fortunately everything else works. Just the radio portion. I understand We'd have to take the radio off.. and we just dont' know how. So does anyone have an idea of how much it will cost to fix this problem?

Is this a house or car?

Either way, you have a short or an overloaded circuit. The problem could also be that the fuse you are trying is of too small an amperage. But I would bet that there is a short in the system.

what the problem is,there's a short in the power wire for the radio, and the radio will probably have to be removed in order to find it,usually its a minor problem but there will be a raw place in the wire somewhere that is touching bare metal, and that will cause it to blow a fuse like this,if it didn't blow the fuse every time,it would probably cause an electrical fire in the vehicle, but have him pull the radio out and look it over,he,ll probably see the problem with it,and can repair it,there's also the possibility that the radio might be bad, good luck with it.,,,PS a repair shop, could probably find this and repair it with in a hour or less, and the cost wouldn't be that much,it might be something to consider doing, good luck.

1. wire rating for amperes
2. actual current rating
3. loose circuits before the fuse, causing a fluctuating current
4. device rating for power vs supply rating - if your fuse is as per one and the other is more, it still goes off
5. any accessory (speakers etc.) attached that has a higher power rating that the device or the supply..can cause a large surge in the device and cause a trip...

you might want to put some very simple device like a correct rating bulb after the fuse and check.
then put the radio with the fuse at another identical source and check first without and then with the accessory
then check together..

The fuse blows because there is a short in the electrical circuit.Normally there can be a couple of circuits that share a 1 fuse for circuit protection.I've seen radio circuits share a fuse with cigarette lighter/power outlets alot.check thet maybe a phone charger is not plugged in causing a problem. If not that, see what else if anything doesn't work.Maybe wipers or power mirrors.Or maybe its in the wiring or the radio itself.hope this helps and good luck on your trip

as far as getting it fixed, most any shop is gonna charge you one hour up front to start diagnosing.check the labor rates in your area

Of course it is a car Frank she said so in her question. Check the wiring running to the radio there could be split in the wire cause it to ground out and blow the fuse.

since we don't know what kind of car it is ,, i suggest you ask another question with complete description of the year,
model, kind of car you have ...they might know how to remove the radio too

so the tech that are trying to help you could give a most likely answer again,,, they cant answer twice ,,,

but any way try putting your hand on the rear of the radio, and try to remove the wire harness that s connected to it,,if you can

if not, try removing the globe box and try to remove the wire from there

then put another fuse,if it burned again take to a shop you have a short outside the radio

check your lighter and power outlet for coins

check for some exposed wiring, maybe between the harness and the head unit.

Sounds like some bare wire is pulling too much power and blowing the fuse

(assuming of course you are using the right rated fuse)

Check the wires going to your radio, more than likely one of them has a bare spot and is shorting out or it is in the radio itself if it isnt a bare spot on the wire.It may be more than one wire too.

consistent with probability purely a bad connection. attempt disconnecting and reconnecting the wiper motor potential connections below the hood some cases. If that dosen't artwork, the the wiper motor is in all likelihood going undesirable and is drawing too lots present day.
