I'm having an argument with my roommate about juking. I think it's when you feint one direction but go the other way, but he claims that if you jump over a guy that it's also considered a juke. Can someone please tell one of us what a juke is? Can you also tell us what jumping over someone is called (I thought it was called a hurdle, but according to my roommate, I'm wrong)?

Jumping over someone is a hurdle, and feint/ misdirection is a juke.
You are right, roomie is wrong.
A movement such as a quick cut where you're still squared off with your defender can be considered a juke as long as it makes the defender commit to one direction... breaking someone's ankles. A jump is just avoiding the defender. Jukes force defenders to react incorrectly, creating space whether it's a receiver trying to get open, or a running back breaking away for open field.
Think LT making Ty Law sit down last season, or Devin Hester's moves for his return TD's.

You're right. You tell your roomate "Hey man, a juke is when you shake a man out of his shoes, not when you jump over him. That's a hurdle you dumb*ss. Yeah, you go to the bathroom, and why don't you pick up your clothes while you're at it, huh? Is that too much to ask? Or do I have to pick up everything? What! I bought the milk! You didn't have to use it up! And what happened to the damn toilet paper!? I just bought a whole package last week, and its already gone!?"

A juke is any maneuver moving left or right to avoid the defender. Jumping over someones' head is simply jumping over someone's head. Its not a juke.

a juke is when make your your defender miss tackle you can go left or right and jump over is not consider a juke.

ur room mate is an idiot..a juke is simply faking out another person...whether u spin, do what u said, exc...but its deff not jumping over them...tht is called a hurdle
