battery is dead, get a new one and then take it to autozone and get a free charging system check.

I would say you have 2 problems possibly. The first is a bad alternator and the 2nd is a bad battery. The battery probably is junk because the alternator is no good and your car is sucking all the life out of the battery.
First thing i would do is change the battery. Then if it does the exact again it sounds to me that its the alternator. If after you put in the new battery it might drive a little longer than start doing the problem again. Seems that your car is relying on the battery to keep it running without the help of the alternator. The battery can not do it if the alternator is not helping it.
The alternator is what keeps the battery charged after your car is running. When your alternator is not doing its job than your battery can die very fast after the car is running and your car will stall.
Altho if after putting in the new battery and you have no problems after about 30 min then problem solved with a new battery but I doubt that its just the battery because when you have a good working alternator and you start a car you can actually disconnect your battery and your car should still run.
Good luck

Check the battery post first, make sure that they are clean. Next , if you are fortunate enough to have a Multi Meter. Check to see what your battery voltage is, With the engine off you should read 12.5v dc. With the engine on, 13.5v - 14.0v. No meter, go to AutoZone they will check it for free with the battery still in the car. They should let you know that the batt and alt. is good. I am with you, 30 min of driving should have charged you up. But remember even if the battery is hot as fire, dirty or loose terminals will cause the starter to click, click, click. Note after all is checked, the starter may have a dead spot. You can check this by having someone turn your key to start, and if you can reach it, whack on the starter with a hammer. Good Luck

Well, sounds like a definite problem with the battery not charging up, so all the power seems to be coming from the alternator. Could also be the alternator going bad, as well as voltage regulator (if your car is old enough to have one of those). Try putting in a different battery (helpful friend lets you use one for a few hours?) to see if that fixes the problem. If not, then start looking at the charging system, including damaged battery cables and corroded terminals.

I would check two things.. To take care of the starting problem I would have the battery tested. Regarding the car dieing that doesn't sound like battery...you may just need to get the settings on the carberator tested so that the car idles properly.

Battery

Your starter is fine, thats the clicking noise, it trying to work.

Your battery is dead and past the point of recharging. Your car won't stay started because the battery isn't recharging.

Easy fix: Replace the battery with a new one.

You have a dead battery that is probably shorted. It's taking all the power out of your car. Go to most any car shops, they'll test it for free. Expect to spend $50 to $100 for a new battery.

Sounds like an ignition problem, may be just the battery cable needing cleaning, which you can do by using sand paper or steel wool. But perhaps a battery that needs replacing.

Your ignition needs a full 12volts when it's idling it's not enough to keep it running. Try checking battery for a good charge, replace if necessary

Narrowed down to battery and alternator. Lots of parts stores will check your alternator for free. Autozone if you have those will.
