There was some tree sap on there and I couldnt get it off, so I scrubbed it off with the rough side of a kitchen sponge. D'oh! srcatched the %@#& out of it. Maybe it was some kind of protective coating that got scratched, I dont know. Is there a home remedy or a product to buy to rub on there and make it better? thanks

there's not any home remedies for this, but you can go to a glass shop, and for about 30 bucks they will buff the scratches out of it if possible, some if their too deep wont come out, you,ll have to let them look at it and decide that, but its worth what they charge for it,i have had it done before, and they do a good job for the small amount of money they charge, good luck with it.

If it was glass, it shouldn't scratch to the point where you can really see it, perhaps there was a coating on the windshield, or perhaps the sponge left some sort of residue. Anyway, there are a few products that I know to be fairly effective on hard plastic surfaces, maybe they work on glass too. The first is called Plexus, it is a clear spray on polish, and you should be able to find it in a local motorcycle dealership (works well on helmet visors.) The second is called Meguiar's PlastX cleaner and polish (available at most auto parts stores.) And the last is called Brasso metal polish. Brasso is a pretty harsh polish, I've used it on iPods and cell phones with great success, but you really have to be paitent and really work it, otherwise it might end up worse than before you started.

If there is a local airport in your area. They carry the solution to your problem. I don't know if the larger airlines will sell it to you. The smaller air craft, like the single engine ones. They use a product that they use on their aircraft. They get a lot of dust and other small material that hits their windshield. It is a paste, and it takes some elbow work to buff it out, but it works.

There's a product called Jewellers Rouge.
With a buffing wheel, it'll remove surface scratches.
But try a windshield glass company.
