Im currently using the 12VAC 1000mA power supply with no problems so far. Will the power supply damage my device in the long run?

That is fine, This 1000mA means that it is capable of a load twice as large as the 500mA supply. This will in no way damage or shorten the life of youe equipment. And it will likely lengthen the life of the power supply because it only working at 50% load.

If that is a regulated power supply, there should be no problem. However, if that is just a cheap/dumb AC adapter, its voltage output at low load would be much higher than 12V and could damage the equipment in the long run. Try checking the voltage at no load. If it is 15V or higher, it is not regulated and dangerous to your router.

it could power two of those and it will not overload it.bigger in power supplys is better.dont worry.
