I think you're right. I think there's pressure from the national party to go easy on the criticism of other primary candidates because you don't want a lot of bad press coming out during the primaries because one of them is going to be the nominee and also it can portray the party as divided, which can weaken that party's chances. You're right too, I mean a lot of primary rivals get consideration as running mates so they have to go easy and kiss their as$ a little bit so they will still be considered for the running mate.

I believe people are sick of the old name-calling campaigns. Remember John McCain being accused of being a friend to the Viet Cong, father of a black baby, etc? It is nauseating and I cheer the Democratic candidates for running more civil campaigns.
Republicans have polished name-calling to a fine art. They will call people names, then shake their heads over profanity on television. They have tried to drag political enemies through the muck. It worked for a while, but people eventually come to their senses.

If Hillary doesn't stumble, Obama's campaign run is over. And Hillary would be smart not to have him as a Vice President.
And Obama's recent refusal to honor the flag was caught on video. That video would be played over and over again in commercials if he ran as Hillary's Vice President.

well... I think he wants to run a cleaner campaign... relatively...
focus on his issues and not on Hillary...
but, it may be his undoing... few seem to care about the issues...
