All those who work in the emergency services are deserving of the highest respect. Possibly those in the Police Force, Fire Service and on Lifeguard duty put themselves at greater risk than Ambulance Crews ... and you have omitted (among others) the Lifeboat crews and the various Mountain Rescue Services, who are in fact volunteers yet are prepared to risk their own lives in very dangerous circumstances - doubly awesome. Needless to say, we couldn't manage without ANY of them.

I share my respect with all of them; however, police have it the roughest, especially on the streets, and they are the first ones who can get themselves into trouble with the public. The police have to maintain law & order with a smile - that's hard! Police, more than any on your list, are the target of snipers and other cruel or misguided people.
Firefighters are almost universally the first on the scene when there is a medical emergency, and they risk their lives every time they enter a burning building or attempt to conquer massive outdoor fires, such as the horror in California today.
Life guards can be cocky and arrogant, busy preening themselves for a new date from someone they met on the beach or at the pool, but they are there for you when there is danger in the water. They know the water and its risks, so their job isn't terribly dangerous.
Ambulance personnel hardly have it so tough, aside from some high-speed traffic risks and the psychological effects (attrition) from seeing and comforting hopeless victims.
And there will be emergencies that arise when the only person available to help you is yourself, so I would add that it's important to respect yourself and stay alert in isolated or dangerous locations (dark streets, the mountains, isolated beaches and forests, rickety buildings, the desert, etc.).
Cops are tops in this answer.

Tie between EMT (ambulance) and Fire.
It takes a special kind of person to do what they do. They are different, but neither is the sort of thing most people aspire to do.
Police in general are just bullies. After graduation with nobody left to bully they found a job that allows them to continue.
And yes, there's some fine police officers, most are just glorified tax collectors getting off on pushing people around.

all of them but probably police more - i mean, the others may be under more pressure eg. saving other peoples lives, but the police are the ones who everyone calls when theres a crime being commited, when somebody is being violent, etc. so they are put in situations where their own life is at risk every single day on every job they do so i think it takes real bravery to do that and carry on doing it every day! afterall, they are the ones we turn to when we, ourselves are too scared of a situation - they cant just back away! but i think also the worst thing is, they hardly ever get praised for what they do - a lot of people hate the police and call them names when without them eeryday life would be impossible

i'm not sure approximately this. i assume i could say the ambulance provider and that i'll describe why. that is not that i don't admire the police or fireplace provider, yet I see greater of the ambulance provider. and that they shop lives. i'm not asserting the fireplace brigade and police do not, yet that's the ambulance's important job, saving lives. the fireplace brigade I admire enormously, yet i don't think of I see adequate of them, yet i assume this is a good ingredient. yet I unquestionably admire the police the least of the three. i comprehend there are those police available that are great policemen, yet on a daily basis you hear approximately how policemen have fecked up yet another ingredient. I recommend, somebody I knew substitute into stopped via the police as they theory he substitute into related to a stabbing in the city we are living in. It took them an hour till now they enable him circulate by way of fact they did not have faith he substitute into who he pronounced he substitute into, even nonetheless he had 3 distinctive varieties of photograph identity on him to boot as his financial business enterprise card.

Ambulance - they get there fast and can save lives when it counts, they're usually jolly nice people too. They must have to see and deal with some horrible things, and there's probably not much time between calls.

While all of them are admirable, I will go with the firemen. Firemen will run into a burning building and help anyone. I personally know of cases were the cops were slow to the scene just because of certain neighborhoods racial make up.

If I had to pick the most respect-I'd say the firefighters. I live in Southern California and I've been watching the dedication they have shown. As for hardest-I'd have to say it's a three way tie.

They're all equally important and needed. Police and fire would be the hardest IMO
