Constantine was not Christian but convened the council

interesting history. His wife was probably the influence for him to become Christian.

Warring religious factions - that is, infighting among the religious groups of the time was hurting his empire, so he tried to bring a reconciliation and uniformity to it all through the councils. Constantine about 325AD.
