It's my husbands 69th birthday, well it is in the uk cos it's now a minute past midnight.

I was thinking of getting him some rubber gloves as a present as a hint that I'd like him to do the dishes more so I can spend extra time on ya. Would this be a good idea or have you a more suitable suggestion?

No cheeky answers this is just a bit of fun and I will be giving him a real present as well lol x

william, we've been together almost 40 years, and we have lasted that long by sharing laughter along with the hardest of times, so we really don't need help but I loved your answer cos it made me laugh too. x

I think you should just ask your Husband if He will do the dishes just once, to get HIm started. I doubt that He would wear the rubber gloves anyway.

Hi Sylvia, Think the idea of rubber gloves is great but I would go one better - buy a dish washer and tell him that you bought if for him to save him from doing the washing up as you didnt like the idea of him spending too much time at the sink!!! And also this means you can both spend more time together!!

Happy birthday to sylvia's Hubby!!!

Great idea! Some great looking rubber gloves with a scrubbie/with handle, stuck in the gloves! A few little samples of detergent in the other glove! Add, a list of to do's, after the dishes are dryed and put away. You know, like wash the stove, clean all cooking surfaces, sweep the kitchen floor and now, you have done the job right!

A dishwasher is not a luxury...its a definate need! If you do go for the rubber gloves option you could get the ones that Kim wears on "How Clean Is Your House" - especially the ones with the pink fluffy tops! Nice! You could buy him a copy of their book too...why stop at just washing the dishes you could introduce him to all the wonders of house cleaning then that way you could spend all the time you wanted on YA!

Sylvia, first of all, you need to contact idealhousewife (Doris). That woman can give you just the advice you need on how to punish or award your husband.

I would get him some Wesson oil. You wear the rubber gloves, and tell him that he is very old now and cannot perform like he used to, so you are going to give him some help. LOL

My dear Lady Sylvia....a very happy and healthy birthday to your husband ! Why not get him some fancy dish washing soap to go with the gloves so he can enjoy some aroma therapy ? Tell him it is the rage !

It is almost too late to wish your husband a happy birthday, but here goes any way. Don't forget a rubber duck will go down well in the bath. Now you know I don't mean that. Here that was well timed a message for Grodno.

One of the charity shops, such as the National Trust, or Barnados may sell a new "manly" apron suitable for hubby.

or,
Do you have time to buy an apron, and embroider "Just Washful Thinking" on it?

You may want to buy a bottle of washing up liquid, and wrap it up so that it looks like a bottle of his favourite tipple.

Whatever your decision, I hope you both have a memorable and happy day.

you've got the pink gloves, the dish soap, the brill-o pads and the apron.......Why stop there? If he is gonna clean in the kitchen, he might as well clean it right.......give him a colorful mop bucket with a nice bow attached, inside add some mop-n-glo and then a mop to top it off.....He might as well scrub the floor too for his B.day......then that gives you a little extra time on here with your friends.......

Make sure and tell him I said Happy Birthday and do not forget to mop good in the corners.........hahha

Lets see right next to your question was an advertisement for rubber gloves--guess YA thinks it is a dandy idea.
