Don't tell them anything. You might change your mind and then what? Wait until after you graduate and if you still want to join the navy, then do it and go home and say "bye"...they won't think that's so funny.

Any practical parent would be proud and supportive for their son joining the navy. Because of the fact that u will be gone for long periods of time and in danger at most times, they will be to terrified to make fun of u. Once u r an adult, u make these decisions, not them. Besides, they might just take u seriously because u r now mature and this is a very difficult decision to volunteer for. Thank u now, and in the far future for your willingness to protect our freedom.

You won't care so much about their teasing once the Navy makes you a man. This sounds like the perfect situation for a guy like you. I am proud that you are willing to die for our freedom and who cares if you get teased a little?

2 years after you graduate college you will be an adult to make your own decisions....

Join the Navy.
Send them a letter.
Visit them before boot camp so they have had time to digest it and hopefully not yell at you or something.
Shoot for what you want to do!

just say

"hey look i would really apprciate if you guys didnt act like such little kids when i say this... but after college i decided to join the navy. there is nothing you can say to make me change my mind."
just man up and tell them to quit acting like kids.
