i have a 30G iPod video that worked with my old computer that crashed. so i got a new one and uloaded all my songs to a new iTunes and it wont recognize my iPod. it says there isnt one connected under preferences thank you sooooo much:)

i forget the exact steps for doing this, but you need to rename the USB port on your computer. don't know why, but it worked for me. (twice)
i think this is how to do it:
open up control panel
click administrative tools
click computer management
plug the ipod in
click device manager
click universal serial bus controllers
and it should show up. then change the drive name. (such as G:/ to X:/)
and it should work.

Hello, this is a tricky one becase I have never encouterd this problem, but.... I have a few suggestions...

• Try the apple website and look for a forum there, they can help you out...

I am not assuming, but just in case, maybe you found it which is why you don't want to contact apple about it, just don't give out too detailed information about it on the forum. I wish I could be of better assistance.

ouch!! well otha eay is restart it by pressing the menu and center button and than trying to connect it if the computer sees the ipod than restore the ipod by pressing the restore botton on the ipod tab.hope this helps!!!!!!!!!!
