she has told me that she is at the point where either she wants to leave home or she wants her daughter to go to foster care, she just can't handle her attitude anymore, only problem is someone told her that if her daughter got put into foster care she would have to pay for it, is that true? We live in Minnesota.

I think every parent has felt this way at one time or another. That is a hard age. A little time away from each other works well.

I know with mine, they each get a week at Grandma's in the summer...by the time the week is up we are glad to be back together. This summer my daughter went for a week at her GM's then for two with friends of the family...I really had a hard time with it, and even she admitted that she was ready to come home after two weeks.

It's a big plus if Grandma or friends are a little strict...then they see how good they have it at home.

I'm not sure how the foster system works... but why is she going to put her in foster care just because she can't handle her??????????.. That's not right and that is just giving up...She has other options.. like sending her to a detention center to straighten her up....She is at that age now where she is rebelling.. and kids don't just start doing that unless something is bothering them or family problems....Your friend should try at least sending her to a detention center before giving her child up...But then again, if she is at that point...it seems like she doesn't love her child anyways....A parent that loves their child will do all they can to protect them...not give them away because they can't handle them.

Don't put her in foster care because of her attitude. Kids will go through this. Just deal with it. If your really worried about it, take her to get medicine or to a long term residental. There's already LOTS of kids in foster care long enough another who is just being given up because of her attitude. Seriously.

Its the teenage girl thing. haha. This happens to most teenage girls. They just dont give a crap what parents feel or think. They just want them out of their "personal" lives.

Trust me, I'm 13.
I started this "stage" at 9

she as the answer in front of her,she is a teenager, and teens are horrisd, wherever you live, doesnt mean we have to shirk our duties and stick them in homes cos they are winding us up,we have to perservere,it wont make her a good adult if she gets stuck in a home just cos shes a bit cocky,id weather the storm, they grow up eventually

if my mom learned how to deal with me, she can do it. It's just that she's becoming a teenager and thats what most of us do when we're that age... your friend should know that.
