The only thing our local Tesco store has is a roll of blue paper to wipe a trolley if it's wet from the rain. That's a good idea to do with antiseptic wipes so we'll get in touch with Mr. Tesco and request they supply some. The amount of people who go to the loo and don't wash their hands is enough to put us off shopping altogether!

I have hand sanitizer in my purse and a packet of tissues that only I touch. I use them anytime I feel that I may have been in contact with a surface that carried too many germs...I'm not at all anal about it, but when you are picking out groceries there is no such thing as TOO clean!

When I handle vegetables and fruit in the store, I put a bag from the roll they supply for the fruit over my hand, in order to pick out apples or mushrooms or to pick through celery stalks, or whatever. Not for myself of course, but to show the others in the produce section that I am thinking of their health as well. And it is a really easy thing to do, as well.

I would welcome antiseptic wipes in the store, but I don't think I am going to see them any time soon. The stores in this area believe in the minimum of services for their customers so top profits can be made.

What would be even nicer is wash stations in the produce section with soap dispensers made to clean fruits and vegetables. THAT is just a dream though.

Never seen them in the uk, but what a good idea. I carry a small bottle of antiseptic gel in my handbag so I can wipe the germs from my hands when I'm out. Some may say that is over the top, but have they really thought just how many germs people leave behind on shopping trollies and door handles etc.

You think up so many good q's daisymae. Keep up the good work. x

Someone just told me this week that one grocery store was doing that. I haven't seen it at the place where I shop most of the time. I think it's a great idea and should catch on all over the country.

Tesco has rolls of blue paper , whether they are antiseptic I don't know... I thought it was just to dry the handle if the trolley had been in the rain and was wet... Purely for comfort and convenience I think.... not sure hygiene comes into it

Yes. I think that is a great service! E coli has been cultured on supermarket cart handles. When I was a young mother, I remember when one of my babys put his mouth on the handle of the cart. I was horrified. Wish they had those wipies then.

I just recently noticed that there are wipes inside the door. I use them on my cart, too.

the store where i shop, has them at the entrance as well as several locations through out the store. i am very anal about infections and germs because i have a kidney transplant, so these wipes are a good thing.

Well, now that Gem said Kroger has them, I'll have to look. I've probably been walking right past it all along! Did see one the other day outside the cafeteria entrance at the hospital....great idea!

Yes. Kroger and A&P does. I saw a news show that more germs were on shopping carts than in bathrooms.
