I find it very hard to understand the process of forgiveness. Does it just mean that you can't be bothered to care anymore? When the offence you are forgiving comes to your mind from time to time do you try to dismiss it or do you even have an empathy with the offender? Do you reconcile the offender with the crime in some way? It sems to me that forgiveness implies a positive attitude rather than a neutral or negative one towards the offender so if somebody forgives, just how do you progress through to a positive attitude? For if you still have a negative attitude how have you forgiven?
I should like to know the various stages as to how this process works as I find the concept most baffling to the extent that I really do not know what forgiveness means.
It seems that some people can forgive but not forget (see below) and some people can forget but not forgive; so I don't think that all these know what they are doing either.

At this point I have to say no, and it is a good thing for some according to the bible, because it is better that people suffer my hate rather than the wrath of God. So in essence, I'm doing them a favor, which is really frustrating. It is unfortunate, but I can't control how I truely feel, I can only pretend to the rest of the world that I do. Does this make sense? To forgive basically means to put whatever it is behind you and no longer harber bad feelings towards that individual, unless someone admits and apologizes for what they have done, I do not feel forgiveness can even be considered. ;-)

Forgive? Yes. We must forgive as we are forgiven.

Trust again. We are not commanded to trust. So, it depends on the kind of animal you're dealing with. If the animal has developed a pattern of bad behavior, then don't trust again. If the animal has a pattern of good behavior, go ahead and trust at your discretion. Only you know if possible failure is worth the investment.

Of course not.
Just by definition the unforgivable is not able to be forgiven.
therefore it wold not be possible to forgive.

Now if the question was:
Could you forgive things that most people would deem unforgivable the answer would be:

That greatly depends on who, what and why.

I would forgive but I wouldn't forget. Let someone take you for a ride the first is their fault, the second its yours.

It is a process.........something you have to ask God over and over to help get over. You are to forgive freely yet confront the perpetrator in order to move on. I just heard about this. Imaculee wrote a book called, "Left to Tell" which precisely deals with this topic.

Since forgiveness is something you do for yourself, I would make the effort. It might take awhile.
