Ok, I was released from the hospital yesterday after having pre-term labor at 31 weeks. I am 3cm and 60% thinned. Today I have been getting very painful shotting pains in my left hip. It happens when I am sitting or standing, so sitting down with my feet up don't help, they keep coming. It is now starting to start at my hip and move to my lower left side of my back.

What do ya'll think, is this normal??

Sciatic nerve pain shoots down your legs from your hips. It's usually related to the positioning and weight of the baby. Honestly, there's not much you can do for it, except explore options to getting comfortable. Take warm showers or baths, use a heating pad, avoid positions and movements that exacerbate the pain.

Call your doc if it becomes unbearable.

Good luck!

Wow, same boat here. I started pre-term at 28 weeks and now I'm 33 weeks. It is normal and it has nothing to do with the pre-term.

There is a nerve in your lower back and legs called your sciatic nerve. It gets pinched a lot during pregnancy and causes that shooting pain.

You're lucky it waited this long. I've had the sciatic pain since month 2.

Sounds like sciatica. It bothers me especially when I'm pregnant, but also in between babies. The pain starts at my back and shoots down my right leg. If home comfort measures like heat and massage don't work you can go see a chiropractor.
