If you don't have healthcare insurance you go to the county hospital like I did when I was 18.

Well right now I pay for my family's health care and its a fortune. The part that pisses me off is I pay sooo much in taxes and illegal immigrants get to go the hospital, doctor, school for free and often get better care. Soooo...My thought is, WHY the hell do I pay for mine and theirs??! I think that's a real problem...God, I hate unfairness!! So the people who can afford it have it (me) and the people who cant still have medical, dental, whatever.

Healthcare in Canada does not suck buddy...get a little truth before you rant. While it ain't perfect I WILL NEVER be turned away for treatment if I don't have insurance. The usual reason some people travel out of the country is because sometimes the wait for ELECTIVE surgery is long or they are among the snobbish elite who feel that they can buy anything anywhere anyhow (and that isn't just a Canadian problem.) If you need a bypass today you will get a bypass today...simple as that...in the US without excessive insurance you would be asked to leave the hospital so that you don't block the door when you drop dead in ER admitting! I know this from personal experience when my grandma had a heart attack on xmas morning in Florida and they would not even look at her until they had the cash in hand for an exam! Back to getting your facts straight...the government of Canada does not control our healthcare either.

Oh and those who can pay quite dearly for private insurance in Canada...I personally pay over 2500 a year for health insurance which includes my "free" government card!

Socialized medicine is not the way to go. In the UK you do not pay for health care, but my friend who lives in Ely states she would much rather have to fork out money, then she would probably be healthier. Since it is free, everyone has to wait an inordinate amount of time, hurting all the way.

What was your bill after you went to the county hospital at 18 ?

THATS why we need it. Cuz nowadays...The healthcare corporations are simply RAPING consumers. It's financially out of reach. THAT doesn't sound like the most free and advanced civilization in the world, does it ?

I agree with the part about control.

so lets reduce taxes on citizens across the board,,,,especially those who can afford it the least, and lets cut wasteful govt spending like Iraq war. If you agree that iraq war is wasteful spending I will agree with you on health care.
But you cant harp on govt waste and control when it comes to doing the right things by people and being humanitarian, and say its ok hypocritically to piss away money like we do in iraq or like we do when we give israel 14 million dollars a day.
What we need is honnesty in debate instead of faux bravado.
Still there is a health care crisis that needs to be addressed in this country whether gov provides for it or not. So lets assume we dont have govt fund health and we are out of iraq, how do we reduce the high cost of healthcare and make it more available and affordable for working americans?
IF you are honnest you will admit that in fact there are millions of americans WHO WORK AND ARE NOT BUMS whose employers cant afford to give them health benefits and who themselves cannot afford $900 a month for health coverage for their families.

Interesting point but I think the government should provide us with healthcare because then it is cheaper for people like me who happen to have a LOAD of medical problems.

Besides, I think our (Canada) government is horribly corrupt regardless of the free heathcare

I don't think they should. I think they SHOULD, however, better regulate costs associated with hospital and doctor care so that more people could afford care. The fraud in Medicare and Medicaid alone could pay for coverage for millions.

The government doesn't pay for anything, the people who work and have their wages confiscated via the tax system do. Personally, I don't want to pay for anyone's health care except that of mine and my family. If you can't afford a family, get sterilized. Why do I have to pay for the irresponsibility of others?

No I don't. I can afford my own. However I don't mind that some of the taxes I pay help children that can't. Better than giving it to corporations that don't need it.

I agree with you.
Personally, I think the democrats are making this decision based on their feelings and not using logic.
