I'd always heard it as "getting your knickers in a knot", but something similar--which is used around here where I live--is "getting your bippies in a bunch."

Here are a few funny ones found at www.findcliches.com:

STUPID PEOPLE:

Got a full 6-pack, but lacks the plastic thingy to hold it all together..
He fell out of the Stupid tree and hit every branch on the way down.
24 cents short of a quarter
A couple of blocks behind the parade
A legend in his own mind.
An AA battery in a D-cell world.
An alligator. (All mouth, no ears)
Brings a knife to a gunfight
Answers the door when the phone rings
As useful as a football bat.
Beamed down and back up one too many times. (for "Star Trek" fans. LOL)

Those are a few of the many found at the website. LOL

One of my former bosses had a bunch of great sayings - here are a few:
He had a grin on his face like a wave in a slop pail
She had a body like a new pickup truck
Where am I? I'm at the corner of Walk and Don't Walk
F 'em all but six - save those for pall bearers
