I asked my honey to hang a candle holder on the wall and he spent half hour going over a 3 foot area trying to find a stud. It went off in the same spot 8 times but he had to try and find another stud. Its a small wall about 3 feet how long should he have stood there trying to figure it out? I asked him after a half hour what he was doing and he told me trying to find a stud. I asked what is wrong with the one you found 8 times? Are all guys like this????

Yes in fact we are, the use of a proper tool cannot be rushed. The stud finder is almost a holy experience using things like density and perhaps magnetism to find the elusive stud. I sincerely hope your honey has a laser leveler to burn up another half hour or so. In reality you could have saved yourself the aggravation and hung it yourself in 5 minutes, but you would have deprived you man of an hour of doing manly things in a manly way. Now you will have a cleanup job to do as after the drilling, filling the hole and re drilling , the placing the proper, if over sized, wall anchor, there will be a lot of cleanup needed. Be sure to pay cash when you hire the handyman next week so you do not hurt his feelings.

I think men are the best things on earth, but the one I love can be silly in exactly the same way. I just moved into my remodeled house and when hanging pictures, small shelves, whatever he used to look for the studs. Finally he realized anything I want to hang is light enough to simply put in the nail wherever I want it hung.

That kinda sounds bad, but he is purrfect in most every other way. Well, as perfect as I am, and that is good enough for me.

Hey!! When a guy is trying to do something right, leave him be & let him do it. If he was building you a house or shed, you'd highly respect this, in him. Guys just aren't programmed to think like we gals; I wouldn't even want him to. Keep very quiet & don't ridicule him, or you could lose a very good thing.

The ones who have tools AND know how to use them are few and far between. And yes they are all silly about some things. A lot of them have intelligence, but no common sense.

He may be a perfectionist. Also, he was looking for a possible two-by-four for strong hold for the top and side. It's frustrating, but at least, once he does something, I'll bet it stays until you get ready to move it.

No. The first stud was probably fine. Besides, unless the candleholder was exceptionally heavy, the drywall would have held it up just fine.
