Is it similar to a Major? Is it almost as good as one? Is it worth it to choose one?

You can just choose a major (your chosen profession basically) or you can have a major and minor in something. Usually ppl minor in something they are interested in but not going to make a living at, such as painting, photography, creative writing etc. You can also minor in something that will compliment your major to help you even more. I majored in english literature and then minored in teaching so i could teach.

A Minor is a series of related courses on a subject that you take as a supplement to the main thing you are studying (which is your Major). Instead of just taking random extra courses to add up to enough courses to graduate you take ones with a common theme. You could be a math major and a music minor or any other combo that moves your life the way you want it to go.

It definitely is worth having a minor because it focuses your mind and gives you wider interests than just taking major courses. You also tend to get a wider circle of friends from those other courses instead of just knowing ones in your major courses.
