Runescape is a pretty solid game.

Since it's a Java game, you only download a small part of it into your computer's cache... which is usually deleted when you close your browser (depending on your settings). There's nothing within the game that should cause problems.

The ads that are on the game's page may be another story... but they're fairly reputable as well.

Runescape is made from a Java script, so unless the script contains harmful viruses, it won't mess up your computer.
I've played for years, and I've never had any problems at all. If you do, you need to report it to them, Go to the website and report a bug if you see anything wrong.
