I took cover off and looked it says P C Chips M848a Rev:21
What I want to do is add more ram, this board has three memory slots with a 266 in two of them!
what I need to be able to do is find out how much memory this board can handle and why three slots not two?
The ram is the old DDR PC 266 (184pin) I think but how can I be sure before I order
How much RAM will this board handle ? can I put three 256m or two 512 I want to get at least 1gig RAM
This is an older system XP home ADD Athlon™ XP 80 gig hard drive

What motherboard do I have
What Kind of RAM & How much can I use
Can/Do I use all three slots or would it be better to use just two

Hi. Good first answer. You are better off with two 512 MB sticks running in dual mode if your board supports it. If not then the same memory will still give you 1GB. (3 GB might be your maximum but the PC 266 is kind of dated. Hold out for a better system.)

I found this PDF on PC Chips website. Looks like you can run either 400,or 333, or 266MHz 'sticks', maximum is 3GB's, with 1GB in each slot. Probably depends on what cpu you're using as to what it's FSB is. Divide it in half, that's your mem speed. PDF: http://64.124.27.139/DLfile/manual/m848a/848A_21B.pdf EDIT: OH yeah this is in German! I just know what to look for! You could use Windows to translate.
