The date is Feb 21 1862 .words deo vindice and confederate states of america are on it.One side has a man astride a horse on it.someone told me there were only 12 made before the confederacy ran out of bouillion so they werent circulated.anyone with info please feel free to email me with detials or website with more info.

There are several sites where you can check up the recorded serial numbers for old confederate money. Before you go see a professional evaluator I would suggest you look online to get an approximate idea of value, otherwise you could find yourself ever so slightly shafted.

The US mint might also have a record....although it depends on whether the amalgamated the records from the confederate mint after it was captured....

You need to take it to a numismatist to have them look at it in person. They cannot put a value on something like that without seeing it and touching it and examining it. By the way, a numismatist is a person who deals in coins. :-)
