There are many good reasons why this isn't a good idea. The main idea, if we were to go to war with them, would certainly be removal of their nuclear capacities. This would involve attacks on all of the main nuclear facilities, the most important of which is the underground facility at Bushehr(Underground because they didn't want us to know it exists). If we were to strike such places, the resulting nuclear fallout would result in massive collateral damage, with thousands of civilians dead in days. The Iranian nuclear facilities contain mostly Russian workers, the Russians having supplied the technology, and the deaths of these workers would create a difficult political situation with the Russians. If our motivation to bomb Iran was their nuclear capabilities, this would be Iraq all over again. Iran DOES NOT have WMDs and, even though the facilities exist to produce the HEU (Highly enriched uranium) necessary for nuclear weapons, they would need a decade or so to accumulate decent amounts of it. Basically, if the USA attacked Iran, it would simply be GWB bullying the world.
