Will we ever become so advanced that we are able to live on other planets or the moon or even other solar systems?

I we don't finish ourselves here in earth first, I am sure that's our destiny, to populate other planets. The space station has the main purpose to demonstrate that we can live outside earth. I believe the technology on this matter is well advanced, and maybe in a matter of two or three decades we will be seeing this miracle happening. We must do it because there is no other choice, if we are to survive as human race and evolve.

Personally I believe our civilization will collapse when the oil reserves run out. Colonizing the moon or other planets in the solar system would require a new powerful energy source which would allow extremely cheap space travel. Otherwise while it could be done, it could only be done at ruinous cost, and it would probably fail. There is no economic reason to do such a thing.
The only way to reasonably colonize the galaxy would be with hypothetical self-replicating space probes. They are also referred to as Von Neumann probes. They could either be unmanned, and with reasonable artificial intelligence, or manned, with a crew in suspended animation (if such a thing is possible). The AI arriving at a solar system could scout possible worlds. Landing it could replicate itself into many copies, using the natural resources of the planet upon which it landed. If by some miracle a planet was found that was livable, the crew could be awakened to colonize it. If it was marginal the original probe could use nano machines to terraform the place. The ship might carry humans only in the form of genetic blueprints and planets could be colonized by clones, built and raised by robots instead of actual humans.
The beauty of this plan is that the Entire Galaxy could be colonized with perhaps 5 to 15 million years without requiring some sort of fictional faster than light drive. The bad news is that we have no idea how to build a Von Neuman machine, robots that could build and raise children, artificial intelligence
and a host of other technologies that such a program would require. But it might be do-able.
But I'm still betting on a collapse of technological civilization.

Colonization is a real possibility (the moon first). But actual populating? I don't think so because the environments are so hostile that space suits or being indoors will always be required. I don't think people want to live caged in like that. People seem to love the free range exploration of the outdoors. We seem perfect for the earth and the earth for us. As far as other solar systems, I highly doubt it. I don't like to be the naysayer, and I love NASA. But other systems are just much much too far away.

Not if we continue destroying our planet at the rate we are. If we don't blow our selves up in the next 300 years, then I see it being a real possibility. Not likely though.

Actually they found a planet much like earth but its extremely far away. It would take 10 lifetimes for a dude to go there.but if we got their we could live their

We're already there, technilogically. All we need is the will to go.

As for mankind populating other planets, he won't do it without womankind. ;^)

Let's hope not. How many planets do we need to destroy in order to make corporation buffoons richer?
