I am open to the existence of ghosts, pending sufficient evidence for them. So far, I haven't found sufficient evidence. That's probably because my background is science and I work as a scientist, and I try to approach the unknown in a systematic way. Believe me, my lack of belief is not for a lack of effort in trying to track down the evidence.
What is the best evidence? So far, I can't point to any one story as being much more compelling than the rest. There are photos and film footage to be had, but again I am not in a position to know with certainty how they were obtained and if fraud can be completely ruled out.

I can't answer any part of why I "Dont" believe that Ghost are real, because I am a full blown believer from way back, in spirit's be around us. I have to, so much agree with the young man, that said he didn't just believe what he heard, he went out to investigate...Same here, and no matter what I believe, it doesn't mean that the person who is standing right next to me when a strange thing happens,is going to buy any of it??? if they don't want to believe, they will give you a whole line of things that it "Could have been" and go on never to believe... We all have a choice, do we not? I think for some, it may take something that would shock them be on their own sense of belief, and even then I don't think they would let it be known, in fear of being laughed at or maybe they had made to many remark's about how that kind of thing, just wasn't real.... Not saying anything ugly about anyone person, I have plenty around me that feel I'm pretty nut's for the thing's I do, but you sure do see them hanging out all night at a said "Haunted old house." some where in the wood's...LOL...Chicken's...My friend's that is...Take care and as always Rock ON!!!

Though I kind of straddle the line between belief and disbelief, I tend to think that ghosts aren't real. Why? Well, there has never been any scientific evidence that conclusively shows the existence of ghosts. I think in all of the years of technology, if ghosts were real, there would be some sort of evidence, and I don't count orbs. There are reasons for little circles of light, and I don't think it is supernaturally related. Also, why would ghosts be so selective about showing their selves? I mean, why haunt a family in a house, when say, a murder victim could haunt his or her killer? For that matter, if there were ghosts, why wouldn't the ghost reveal his killer? There are just too many things pointing to ghosts not existing for me to completely suspend disbelief.

I don't believe in ghosts because there is no evidence that humans continue to exist after death in either conscious or residual form. I don't believe in ghosts because I don't see a reason to. I would like to believe in ghosts because I think that would be really cool, but I have never seen any compelling evidence to make me think they are real. The only evidence at all is anecdotal and I know how unreliable our senses and subjective interpretations of those senses can be.
Do you believe? If so, why?

I have been investigating paranormal activitie since about March, but I've been studying the topic for probably 10 years. alot of you tend to not believe because of ineffiecent evidence. Sure I can belive that their are alot of pictures that people claim as "paranormal" and is nothing but dust, moisture, sun refraction, or a bug. But...what about the pictures that are not that, what about the pictures of actual human forms? sure you can say "oh it's fake" but is that your only answer? Prove to me that its fake....just like we have to prove to the skeptics that it is real. Ill stop there on pictures time to go to next topic...
So far no one has mentioned EVP's (Electronic Voice Phenomenon). These have been around since Thomas Edison (read the history of EVP's) and have been studied scientifically for 70 years. They are scientifically proven to exist, however, scientitist will not and can not say what causes them for they do not know (from a scientific perspective). Now, many of you will probably say "well their faked" or "I dont hear anything." You want to hear one, http://www.aghostpage.com/ourevpspage2.htm, bottom EVP I personally captured. Believe me or not I will tell you now I DID NOT hear that voice. For those of you who think its a fake...we replayed that EVP for the mother, the sister and all his friends (read the report) and they all confirmed that was the mother's son's voice. I analysed that recording, with adobe audition, and was able to find out the direction it was coming from...It was coming from right next to where I was standing in a corner of the building where there are no windows or doors. It was coming from the spot where he had hung himself... Look if you dont believe in spirits or ghost, that's fine. I guess I get frustrated sometimes when people say their is no scientific or hard evidence that spirits or ghosts (of some nature) exist. Yes many pictures are debunkable I wont argue on that, I find pictures quite rare. Video evidence is great evidence...and yes their will be fakes out there because people like to make jokes over things they are not sure about. EVP, I personally believe, is some of the strongest evidence out there. It exists, science has proved that (http://www.aaevp.com/evp_faq.htm). Your voice begins with the organic vibration of your vocal cord. The resulting sound is then channeled through your mouth, and on the way, frequency components are formed, enhanced or suppressed by the changing shape of your mouth and then spewed out into the world as a word. Voice researchers call the vocal cord frequency "Formant 0," and the subsequent harmonics , "Formant 1," "2" and so on. Most EVP's when analysed will not have Formant 0...meaning that what you hear on that recorder is not coming from the vocal cords of a person (living).
For people who disbelieve, look into the field a little more than you-tube... and you might find something that will shock you.

With all the unexplaned pic.and recordings, and all the personal experiense that happen I don't see how we could not believe.
I know there are alot of fake pic out there. But there are so many that can not be explaned.Seems to me we have our proof we just don't whant to believe it.And what about all the things that happen to people that can't be explaned?
Why is the paranormal so hard to believe, but so many believe in some form of religion? There is no solid proof there either.
I for one have had so many things happen, pic and personal experince.I don't guesstion if it's real or not. With the paranormal or religion.
Interesting topic !

I don't believe in ghosts, because i believe the Bible is the divine word of God and the Bible says that when you die you either go to heaven or you go to hell. You don't roam the Earth. I do however believe in demons and I think some people mistake them for ghosts. Maybe I sound like a total not-job but this is what I believe.

TR, one day I will send you a couple of pics I took about a year ago. They are daytime pics. I am not saying what I caught was a ghost. But I, nor anyone else has come up with an explanation for what I took a picture of.
As for the question, ghosts, demons are the only paranormal I believe in. So I wont take up anymore of your space.

We do believe that Ghosts ARE real,we believe that Ghosts are Earth Bound Spirits that have not made it to the Otherside for one reason or another..maybe they weren't ready to go/they went so quick that they didn''t know they were dead ,there are many reasons ...each having their own I'm sure!

1) because I've never observed a ghost nor any phenomenon that could only be explained by a ghost.
2) because there is no legitimate, scientific evidence for them.
People claiming to have observed them never have produced any independently verifiable or repeatable evidence - a person's claim is not evidence.
