Bigfoot, also known as Sasquatch, is a figure in North American folklore alleged to inhabit remote forests, mainly in the Pacific northwest region of the United States and the Canadian province of British Columbia. In northern Wisconsin, Lakota Indians know the creature by the name Chiye-tanka, a Lakota name for "Big Elder Brother"[1]. Bigfoot is sometimes described as a large, hairy bipedal hominoid, and many believe that this animal, or its close relatives, may be found around the world under different regional names, such as the Yeti of Tibet and Nepal, the Yeren of mainland China, and the Yowie of Australia.

Mainstream scientists and academics overwhelmingly "discount the existence of Bigfoot because the evidence supporting belief in the survival of a prehistoric, bipedal, apelike creature of such dimensions is scant".[5]. In addition to the lack of evidence, they cite the fact that while Bigfoot is alleged to live in regions unusual for a large, nonhuman primate, i.e., temperate latitudes in the northern hemisphere, all other recognized nonhuman apes are found in the tropics, Africa, continental Asia or nearby islands. The great apes have never been found in the fossil record in the Americas, and no Bigfoot bones or bodies have been found.

Moreover, the issue is so muddied with dubious claims and outright hoaxes that many scientists do not give the subject serious attention. Napier wrote that the mainstream scientific community's indifference stems primarily from "insufficient evidence ... it is hardly surprising that scientists prefer to investigate the probable rather than beat their heads against the wall of the faintly possible" (Napier, 15). Anthropologist David Daegling echoed this idea, citing a "remarkably limited amount of Sasquatch data that are amenable to scientific scrutiny." (Daegling, 61) He advises that mainstream skeptics take a proactive position "to offer an alternative explanation. We have to explain why we see Bigfoot when there is no such animal" (ibid 20). Indeed, many scientists insist that the breeding population of such an animal would be so large that it would account for many more purported sightings than currently occur, making the existence of such an animal an almost certain impossibility.

Bigfoot is one of the more famous examples of cryptozoology, a subject that the scientific community classifies as pseudoscience because of unreliable eyewitness accounts, lack of scientific and physical evidence, and over-reliance on confirmation rather than refutation. Scientific experts on the matter consider the Bigfoot legend to be a combination of folklore and hoaxes.

The footprints were put there by people in snowshoes shaped like bigfoot feet. Sorry but saw it done! The pranksters had a grand laugh at all the gullible bigfoot believers.

The original video was admitted by its creator that it was a fraud.

All other evidence has been shown to be VERY SUBJECTIVE!

No he is not real. If he was some real evidence would have surfaced. All supposed evidence has either been shown to be fraudulent or is so tainted that it could not be determined to support the existence of Bigfoot. Every video (and there has been dozens) is to blurry to make out a clear picture. Why? I could see a few blurry videos but with modern focusing technology they should not all be fuzzy.

It is possible that bigfoot or "ape men" exist all over the world.

Bigfoot or sasquatch are said to exist in the pacific northwest. It has played a part in native american culture to the people who lived there. I believe it exists there because it may be descended from early humans like gigantopithucus when they crossed the bering strait 20, 000 years ago.

The Tibetan Yeti is similar in appearance to the sasquatch. It is said to live in the mountains of the hymalaia mountains in Tibet and Nepal. I believe it exists because it has existed in Sherpa culture for many hundreds of years. But if Bigfoot came from asia then some bigfoot might have stayed behind.

There is even an ape-man that exists Down Under. The Yowie is said to live in Southern Australia near what is called the blue mountains. It is smaller than the other two but just as fierce. Locals say that its methods of killing are decapitation.
I REALLY think it exists because if it kills using decapitation, it must have learned this, which is a human skill. And there are no other primates that live in Australia or even large animals like the Yowie to compare it to.

Yes. The Yeti, Yowie, Sasquatch, Abominable Snowman or Bigfoot DO exist.

I personally know of three different friends who have witnessed sightings of these creatures in Australia. All three sightings were in New South Wales. One was in The Blue Mountains. A girl and her horse were once chased through the bush there by a Yowie. But that was probably about 20 years ago now.

I believe they are still around because there IS more than 1.

I think it is fake.

One time a college student noticed that his waist paper basket looked like a Hippopotamus foot
He and another student weighed it down and using ropes they made tracks, in the snow, into the nearby lake.
People thought a Hippo had walked into the lake.

People make fake footprints...shocking isn't it???? People actually make up evidence.

You can't have one bigfoot...he'd be dead by now with no offspring. Animals just can't live alone...same with the Loch Ness monster. Species cannot survive without several members.
