I don't think it has to have a purpose, except to live.

The pursuit of happiness. To do what makes you happy, healthy and allows you to reproduce or make the world a slightly better place. Regardless of what religion you fallow that should cover it.

Life and consciousness of life are two separate things.

Life is biologically not dead.

Consciousness of life allows it to be virtually anything we choose it to be.
