i have just got an allotment but all i have to grow at the moment are broad beans and onions/shallots. anything else or will i have to wait for spring?

It depends where you are. If UK you should have planted sprouts and they can be picked right through winter and they would have been lovely for Christmas also some cabbage . No fruit at all What you need to do is plan for next year so you will have swede, carrotts, potatoes etc that can be stored. Now is the time to think about digging you allotment adding farm yard manure also dig in the annual weeds as they will put goodness back into the soil but any weed such as thistle or bind weed put on the compost heap or leave on the top to die and rot down

Tomatoes, chick. Can grow almolst anywhere. Especially good near windows if there indoors. in winter no bugs to eat them so its grate :)

Winter vegetables include peas, cabbage, lettuce, broccoli, cauliflower, radishes, and probably lots more that I can't think of off the top of my head.

Pumpkins, squash, potatoes and really any kind of root veggie.
