I have constant problems with abcessed teeth, most of my molars have had to have root canals. I take echinacea - see info on herb below - 1,140 mg 2 or 3 caps 3 to 4 times a day to keep the problems under control. (I am a serious tooth grinder.)

Also CoQ10 helps repair some of the problems that cause abcesses to form. Milk and cheddar cheese help with tooth decay problems, minimizing them.

I have also found that when one flares up, brushing, although it may hurt some, helps immensely to calm the problem. I have used anbesol and other oral pain relievers, but find that they sometimes make the problem worse.

Heat will bring the abcess to a head, cold will make it shrink. If the abcess comes out to the gum (gum boil) it can be drained.

Aleve helps with the pain. Usually if heat doesn't make it feel better, I use a cold pack and fall to sleep with it on the area.

Info on Echinacea:
Echinacea has had a long history of being utilized as a healing herb by Native American people. In the 1800’s it became popular with the medical community in the United States and was a widely prescribed natural remedy for infections and inflammation. Its usage was recommended and studied during this time by the renowned Dr. Uri Lloyd, Dr. John King and Dr. H.C.L. Meyer. 2 /3 The root and rhizome were officially recognized by the National Formulary (NF) from 1916 to 1950.

Though its popularity in America waned with the onset on antibiotics, its usage continued in Germany where it was often used to treat viral infections and inflammatory conditions.

I'm saving money for some dental work but in the mean time my gums get swollen and sore - more like abscessed. Here's my recipe that works INSTANTLY on gums: Peel & slice a mealy red apple, not a sour type. Place apple slices in a pan with a little water and simmer until the apples are soft but not falling apart mushy. NOW: use tap water to find out what temperature your sore mouth "likes" - usually a little bit cooler than room temp but not cold. Cool the slices to that temp in the fridge and apply to the sore spots. It feels great instantly!

the only selection to an antibiotic is yet another antibiotic. Antibiotics have a "spectrum of action" or a itemizing of the varieties of micro organism they have an result on. if your buddy is allergic to penicillin, he (?) can take delivery of yet another antibiotic that has the comparable spectrum of action. regrettably , azithromycin is an selection to penicillin. Has he been given cephalosporins?

Garlic is a good antibiotic.

Cloves are good antiseptic/antispasmodic/antibacterial agents. Try sucking on some throughout the day. Cloves are also good for the teeth and gums. You can find them along with spices in the grocery store.

Hope this helps.

P.S. Are you also taking probiotics? If you are just taking antibiotics it is not good for you. You need to take probiotics along with them. If not probiotics eat lots of yogurt. Just to avoid possible problems down the road in the future.

Try Oil of Oregano- available at good health/ supplement shops. Be warned- it's a bit hot on your tongue! It is a pretty strong antibacterial/fungal/viral; I have had success with it in minor infections. Tea tree oil, in my opinion, does pretty much nothing that I have noticed.

No.
Ask your specialist if they have a payment plan, and get your tooth taken care of.
They now say dental disease is one of the leading causes of heart disease.
