I don't feel like waiting for a callback from my doctor, and I don't think I even asked this - but are you protected from pregnancy on the placebo pills at the end of your pack? I can't find the information in the package insert. I know they don't contain hormones, but is it another seven day wait after the placebo pills end and the new pack starts before your okay to have sex?

Yes. The placebo week is ostensibly when you're menstruating, so your body doesn't have the opportunity to ovulate between menstruation and when you start taking your next pack of pills.

When the placebo is taken you should get your period. While your body is used to the hormone changes produced by the actual pill, it's not 100% effective. Some women can ovulate during their period and being on hormone birth control can actually mess up your ovulation more in certain cases. That happened to a girl who lived down the hall from me. She thought it was safe to have sex while she took the placebo and found out the hard way that it wasn't.

You are protected at the 99% effectiveness rating.
Which means, even if you have sex on the pill, you could get pregnant.
