OK first if you want to succeed in runescape you have to be prepared to do repetitive things.
1. Be patient. Things will come in time. Mining is good to start off with.
2. Get mining to lvl 30 and mine 10 000 coal. You can sell it on world 1 for a fortune.
3. get a rune pick and get your mining higher. Keep mining coal and getting more money until you're rich.
Alternatively you could buy coal or other stuff and sell it at a higher price, thus making a profit each time.

Hints about what? How to get gp? How to level up? If you are new to runescape, take a little time and read up on the forums. Read the New Updates thread, and particularly read the rules so you don't get scammed or banned. For "how to" information go to tip.it......no www or .com. It will take you step by step through every skill in the game. They also have quest helps at that site, but for quests I like www.runehq.com because their guides are excellent. I also use runehq for pricing. Look to the left of the page and scroll down to items...they list absolutely every item in rs, and the value of the item...even high alch values. I use runehq to locate NPC's and monsters, too, as they tell you where to find each and the monsters hp's. Tip.it has clue scroll directions and explanations, and a great Fairy Ring map. Also, a good map of the wildy. Good luck to you. It is a great game, if you have the tenacity to get your levels up. The higher your lvls, the easier the play.

Well im not much of a runescape guy but here are some tips i could give for suceeding.
1) Never give up if you like tha game play it
2) be a good friend in the game
3) and go outside once in a while its good for you no so good starring at your comp all day.

1) Put runescape away and purchase WoW
2) Spit on runescape, the wackest free RPG game ever in the history of mankind on this continent that is called earth which floats around in space with a bunch of stars blah blah blah
3) Save $15 every month to continue to play WoW
4) Enjoy WoW
5) ...Get a life because WoW can be addictive
